iPhone SE 2 Leak – iPhone X Style Notch And More

Apple looks set to reveal a new iPhone SE 2 soon which will bring features from the top-end iPhone X to an affordable handset.

The Leak

Here you have the clip in question:

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDr1CJpTV20]

The video, leaked on the Japanese website Mac Otakara, shows off what is apparently the new iPhone SE 2 smartphone. It looks a lot like a perfect fusion between an iPhone X and an iPhone SE.

Previous rumors add up

There have also been some mockup sketches leaked, which appear to support this form factor. There was also reported a previous leak about Apple working on an iPhone SE 2.

Apple has previously been rumoured to release 3 new iPhones this year with a 5.8-inch iPhone X, a 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus and a more affordable 6.1-inch LCD display toting handset which could be this iPhone SE 2.

You will immediately notice the squarer shape of this phone than the current higher end iPhones, much like Apple’s older iPhone design style. But then there is that iPhone X style top-notch and bezel-free display – something which has been rumoured to appear on all of Apple’s iOS devices in the future.

Of course this must be taken with a pinch of salt. Notice that lock icon remaining on after the phone is unlocked? That suggests this could be an Android build made to look like an iPhone. Of course it could simply be a bug in what is a very early version of the iPhone SE 2.

Possible Launch?

In Feb 2018 the Taiwan Electronic Times (via the Chinese-language site MyDrivers) predicted an iPhone SE 2 launch in March, albeit with minimal design changes from the SE.

Another report, this time by the Taiwanese market research company TrendForce, believes a new iPhone SE 2 is coming in the first half of 2018.

Another possibility is that the iPhone SE2 could launch at Apple’s WWDC event in June. A report from a Chinese website at the end of February 2018 suggested that the iPhone SE2 will launch at WWDC.

Samsung Galaxy S10 to Feature iPhone X-Style 3D-Sensing Camera

The Samsung S9 and Note 9 won’t feature an iPhone X-style 3D-sensing camera, but it looks like the Galaxy S10 will!

The Samsung Galaxy S10 is going to come packing an iPhone X-style 3D-sensing camera for Face ID-type security and unlocking capabilities. That’s according to reports from Korean news outlet The Bell.

According to the report, an Israeli startup called Mantis Vision is currently working with camera module firm Namuga on 3D-sensing camera solutions for Samsung, with the technology intended to feature in the next generation of Galaxy S smartphones.

Special addition for a special event

This report would certainly seem to carry some weight, as Namuga is not only one of Samsung’s camera module suppliers, but it also directly supplies 3D-sensing modules for Intel’s RealSense AR cameras, too, while Mantis Vision specialises in 3D-mapping technologies.

Samsung following Apple’s lead on this would also make sense as next year will be the 10th anniversary of the Galaxy smartphone series, so incorporating the 3D-sensing camera in the S10 would help make the device extra special, just as with iPhone X.

Samsung is pushing the competition further

While the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus came with Intelligent Scan, a security feature that combined face and iris scanning, neither phone came with 3D-scanning capabilities and, judging by current reports, the tech won’t feature on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 9, either.

As such, it definitely looks like Samsung has its playbook for the next 12 months pretty sorted in terms of security features, with an in-screen fingerprint reader on the cards, and the Galaxy S10 introducing Samsung’s answer to Apple’s Face ID tech in March 2019.

iPad Pro 2018 – Rumors, Features, Specifications, Release Date

Tablet sales seem to have tanked for quite some time now; this is why 2018 did not bring us many new models. For example, Apple has not released a new iPad Mini for more than 2 years.

However, the iPad Pro series definitely got all the love; June 2017 introduced a new 10.5in model. And the next generation, the iPad Pro 2018, might get released in a quite similar time frame.

Features Rumored

One important rumor srpouted from the report of KGI Securities. In autumn 2017 we got the information that the next-gen iPad Pro will most likely feature iPhone X tech, like the Face ID.

Additionally, code was found in an iOS beta version, which points to a “modern iPad”. Remember how ‘modern’ was the codeword used for the iPhone X? This could be the case here, too. Obviously nothing is confirmed, it’s still vague information, but it could hint to a redesigned iPad that sports a TrueDepth camera.

If this theory holds true, then the new iPad might also support Animoji (iPhone X’s animated emoji using the new camera) and the ability to take selfies with a depth effect.

According to an earlier report, the new iPads will probably include the custom Graphics Processing Unit and AI Chip designed by Apple which were first used in the iPhone 8 and X. Also, to support this theory, apparently Apple has been stealing Qualcomm’s engineers in order to expand its series of in-house chips.

Home button? Headphone jack?

That is about it for rumors, however the recurring trend in iPhones can be applied to iPads as well. Even though it might not copy-paste everything from the iPhone X, the new iPad Pro 2018 might not have a 3.5mm headphone jack or a home button either.

One might believe it would be hard to adjust to no home button, but it was really easy to forget on the iPhone X. Also, no home button results in smaller margins for the screen and also increased reliability. Finally, removing the buttons and the 3.5mm jack could result into the first waterproof iPad.

Release date

Apple announced new iPads at its developer conference in June 2017, so that may be the case this year too! The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference is scheduled for June 4th, 2018, so that might be the day we find out about the new iPads.

An alternative would be to postpone the iPad announcement in order to synchronize it with a potential new iPhone announcement.

Right now, nobody knows for sure and all we are doing is educated guesswork. Supply chain leaks are usually a good indicator of how far a product is.

Apple Gives Up On The Jack Adapter Monopoly

As is the case with apps, Apple owns absolute control over accessories that are compatible with its mobile devices. Thus, all accessories which have the MFi (Made For iPhone) logo are 100% compatible with Apple devices and guaranteed to function within normal parameters, just like any official accessory.

Multiple options

With the change in the MFi logo, Apple added some new types of accessories which Apple partners can develop and release to the public, like the Lightning to 3,5mm adapter.

Ever since the release of iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, each and every iPhone comes with a Lightning-to-jack adapter in the box. However, users who lose or break them can only buy a new one from the stores which sell official Apple products, at the price of about $12.

The fact that now there is the possibility of buying this kind of third-party adapters from the MFi series means that cheaper alternatives will come soon enough too, to the joy of those who still use wired earphones with a 3,5mm jack with an iPhone.

Another change gives way to the developers to produce accessories compatible with the USB-C charging standard, which will allow other wireless accessories such as gamepads or external power banks to be equipped with the new charging-standardized plug.

What Apple does not allow yet is producing USB-C-to-Lightning charging cables, like the one the company sells independently of a smartphone, for the scope of plugging your phone to a MacBook Pro or a MacBook 12.

This cable is also the only one that can be used to benefit of the fast charging present on the iPhone 8, iPhone 8+ or iPhone X and it costs anywhere between 25 and 35 dollars, depending on its length (1 or 2 meters long).

The Notch May Be Removed In 2019’s iPhones

Mobile World Congress 2018 has shown that Apple is still going strong; it is leading the smartphone market. Several Android device developers seem to follow the iPhone X design philosophy on a myriad of devices, whether that is necessary or not.

However, it seems like Apple is already thinking of removing the notch on the top of the screen, and its devices that are to come in 2019 might turn out to be completely “notchless”.

The near future

A Korean news site has recently published a report based on anonymous information, from sources reportedly close to Apple, in which it is discussed the possible removal of the notch in the next generations of iPhones. This means that 2018’s models, those 3 devices we keep hearing about (an improved iPhone X, an iPhone X Plus and a budget iPhone X with an LCD screen and a smaller price) will continue to be launched with the design that was presented last year.

First ideas

For the integration of the calls speaker, the front camera and the Face ID sensors, proximity and ambiental light, one of the solutions Apple is considering is even “drilling” a hole in the OLED panel. Therefore, the screen would occupy the entire front surface of the phone, and the only spaces where nothing is displayed would be those dedicated to the front components.

Additionally, there exists the possibility for Apple to add something called “Black Matrix” in the OLED panel, which would allow for that area to be transparent in order for those components to function properly.

Going back and forth on the design

In the meanwhile, other producers such as Vivo and Essential propose the integration of the front camera within a mechanical system which could hide it. Whichever the situation, no top producer seems to be able to be pleased with the compromise solution which sacrifices part of the display.

What do you think, which would be the best going forward? We would love for you to leave your thoughts in the comment section down below! As always, stay tuned for more information on this subject.

Samsung Is Giving You $350 To Swap Your iPhone X For A Galaxy S9!

Yes, you read the title right. If the Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus seem too expensive, Samsung can help you a bit and give you 350 US dollars for purchasing one of the aforementioned smartphones. However, they require you turn in your iPhone X to them in order to be eligible to earn the money.

As you may have known already, Samsung owns a program through which you can trade in your old phone and get some money back, guaranteed, as long as you use the money to buy the new Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus phone. Well, this week a new option has been added to their program: you can trade an iPhone X, 8 or 8+ and get $350 back. If we’re doing the maths right, if you happen to have bought an iPhone X for around 1000 US dollars, you can get back a bit more than a third of its value if you give it to Samsung!

Also there’s a perk for those who choose to trade their iPhone X: Customers who do so will have an S9/S9 Plus in their hands a whole 2 days before anyone else, on March 14!

The Samsung vs Apple competition seems to be reaching a new high. With this new option, Samsung is saying that their phone is better than the iPhone X and they’re willing to take some of their customers with this method.

Of course, it’s not that simple. In order to prevent getting scammed, Samsung requires customers who wish to get those $350 that:

  • Disable any anti-theft protection on the phone, like the fingerprint scanner;
  • Factory reset their phone and send it in the original box the phone came in;
  • The phone must be in a decent state (i.e. has to power on and have a charge, an intact display etc.);
  • The phone must not be on-lease;
  • The phone has to be received by Samsung within 15 days of the purchase of the S9/S9 Plus.

While trading in an iPhone X, an iPhone 8/8+ or a Galaxy S8/S8+ for $350 is great, that’s not where the offer ends! You can trade many other device models for different amounts of money, any and all going towards the purchase of a new Samsung Galaxy S9/S9 Plus. For more information and frequently asked question, you can access the offer page at https://www.samsung.com/us/trade-in/ and check out the offers! Apple Plans For 2018 – Will The Next iPhone Be The Biggest Phone Ever?

Bloomberg has just published some information today about the Apple plans for 2018, future iPhone smartphones, which will be most probably presented by Apple in September, as it tradition says.

Until some official announcements will be made, all we have are rumors saying that the future iPhone could come with the biggest display ever (among all the smartphones), Dual Sim, as well as it can come in different colors, not just white and black, as the iPhone X.

Let’s see now what Apple plans for 2018

The future Apple iPhone could be the biggest phone ever

According to the news, the future Apple model will come with a 6.5 “(OLED) display and it would be the largest phone ever produced by the brand.

This phablet (phone-tablet hybrid) could indeed adopt a resolution of 1242 x 2688. The resolution, however, might be changed eventually but for sure the future iPhone will get closer to mini-iPad display while maintaining, at the same time, the level of details of the display of iPhone X.

Apple plans to revive a colorful series in its future release

In another interesting piece of information, it is revealed that Apple could again propose a golden color on some models.

It must be said that in recent years, the colors variations were fairly limited or consensual (classic, if you want), with only white and black on the iPhone X.

Could be possible to have a future iPhone Dual Sim?

Also, Bloomberg believes in the arrival of an iPhone Dual Sim model, just to satisfy heavy-travelers or professionals, who also have a personal line.

Even more, the fans also want a Dual Sim iPhone, so there is a high probability to have a future Apple smartphone with Dual Sim mode.

However, Apple could opt for an eSIM solution, as on its iPad or Apple Watch.

iPhone X Plus 2018 vs. iPhone X – What’s The Difference?

iPhone X Plus is the name given to the future Apple’s phone that will have a 6.5-inch screen. Apple wants to launch this new flagship during this year. It will have a design similar to that of the iPhone X but will be bigger, for real?

iPhone X will be out of sales in the fall this year, but a successor will be put on sale soon after – iPhone X Plus.

The iPhone X Plus will be the “big brother” of the iPhone X, and it will be at the same size as the iPhone 8 Plus. However, a 6.4 – 6.5-inch screen that covers the entire front panel will be present.

The iPhone X Plus will not be colossal but it could still be slightly wider than the iPhone 8 Plus but within the limits of normal use for those who had a model of that kind.

The iPhone X Plus will bring Apple’s phone line to a huge screen that many will love, hoping that will also bring a suite of Android fans to the company platform.

iPhone X Plus is official

The iPhone X Plus will be the majority’s next phone if it will have a screen as large as the rumors say.

And since that model has not emerged during 2017, many will be looking forward to the iPhone X Plus.

Besides, the majority of people wanted to get an iPhone X Plus during 2017. So, many others will join by buying the new iPhone model.

Now that the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will be launched on February 25th, and they’re supposed to bring some very cool features, I’m very curious to find out what you think about the future Apple’s iPhone X Plus phone model. Don’t get shy and share your opinion with us!

iPad Pro 2018 Will Look Like iPhone X On A Bigger Scale

As we’ve been facing in the past few months with remakes of the Apple’s portfolio regarding the iPhone series, we’re still dreaming about future iPads. However, there is some news that shows that the iPad 2018 will be similar to iPhone X, but only bigger.

iPad Pro 2018 – Design

Apple introduced a real new design language with the release of the iPhone X, with its edge-to-edge screen, a display that makes the most of space.

If Apple is going to work the same on its tablet line, it’s likely that the new iPad Pro might be like the iPhone X.

Another rumor refers to big changes of the home button.

Apple has already physically removed the iPhone button from iPhone 7. The company has replaced it with a virtual button that uses Force Touch technology.

Apple may also do the iPad 2018

The absence of the home button, which typically hosts the fingerprint scanner, is a sign that Apple is going to use Face ID on tablets, which will later run a biometric measurement system.

If that’s true, that means Apple will adopt a different design to the next-generation iPad Pro.

iPad 2018 is supposed to have an OLED screen as well as the smartphone models launched this year. However, some technical and financial constraints claimed by Apple could hinder the adoption of this screen model.

iPad Pro 2018 – Performance

For the next iPad Pro, it was reported that Apple will introduce a Bionic A11X chip, a variant of the A11 chip from iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus.

The A11X chip is supposed to come with a new processing power for images, for improved graphics performance, and a neural block for learning.

iPad Pro 2018 – Features

  • The new line of iPads will be equipped with USB-C., hopefully.
  • Apple knows that users want it, but it does not give any sign of implementing it.
  • In terms of wireless connectivity, the iPad Pro 2018 may be able to charge wirelessly.

Google to Borrow a Page from Apple’s Book and Implement Display Notch in Android P

Last year Samsung revolutionized how the “ideal” smartphone should look like when it equipped Galaxy S8 with an Infinity Edge panel. This panel looks sleek and its bezel less design makes it better for video watching experiences.

Obviously Apple followed right in Samsung’s footsteps and created its own bezel less panel for iPhone X, but there’s a big difference. Apple left a notch where it’s facial recognition software is installed.

iPhone X Top Notch

Both Galaxy S8 and iPhone X look amazing in their own way and it’s just a matter of perspective when it comes to which one looks better. However, it seems like Google loves what Apple did with the notch. The reason we are saying this is because Google’s new operating system is said to be optimized for a notch.

Google to Redesign Android Devices

As many of you already know, Google loves to refresh its operating system lineups. Android 8.0 Oreo is the latest one, but Android P is in the works already. The new operating system is schedule to come out later this year and it’s said that it will revolutionize how standard Android user interfaces look, thus making the notch rumor plausible.

Google Wants Fans to Switch Sides

While this might not come as a surprise to anyone, Google wants iPhone fans to switch over to Android smartphones. Therefore, the main reason why Google wants to implement the notch is to make its smartphones feel more familiar towards Apple fans.

After the rumor was the notch implementation and Google’s wishes to “Steal” fans from Apple came out, a Google spokesperson was asked about it and he declined to answer. If the rumor was false, the spokesperson would just say no and not avoid the question.
