A woman from Detroit was riding in her car on May 21st when sparks started to jump out from her mobile phone, causing her vehicle to catch on fire. According to several US media, the driver had two Samsung Galaxy S4 and a Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphones on her dashboard, and one of them (the victim does not yet know from which of them the problem originated) started to catch fire, spreading the fire all over the vehicle until it burned completely.

When the woman saw the first signs that something was wrong with her handsets, she decided to stop the car.

In a matter of seconds, the fire spread throughout the vehicle.

“I thought I was going to die when I saw the sparks and the fire,” said the victim, who did not want to disclose her identity.

Detroit Fire DepartmentĀ confirmed that the fire started from the woman’s Samsung Galaxy phones

The Detroit Fire Department confirmed the story of the woman, who has had trouble sleeping since the event, suffering from recurrent panic attacks, according to her lawyer, Gerald Thurswell.

Thurswell has also confirmed that they have contacted Samsung to inform the company’s officials regarding the event, although no lawsuit has yet been filed.

“They have been very responsible and have sent a team to examine the car and Samsung Galaxy phones’ remains. Once it is determined which of the phones was the originator of the fire, we can probably save lives,” Thurswell said.

“We support the quality and safety of the millions of Samsung phones in the U.S. We look forward to a full investigation of this matter, and until we can examine all the evidence, it is impossible to determine the true cause of any incident,” replied Samsung’s spokesmen.

Until further notice, a Samsung Galaxy phone was the culprit for firing up a car which ended up completely damaged.
