The final nail in the coffin of whatever that was left of the Nokia mobile phone business is soon about to be hit.
Reports have been pouring in that Microsoft is now looking forward to put an end to the Lumia series of devices, which are a living monument of their failure in the mobile phone business.
The company has been trying really hard to tap into the smartphone markets, but have only faced hard times in the markets of smartphone technology.
Microsoft, after the acquisition of Nokia mobiles, was expected to do much better into the markets, but however, things did not work out in their favour.
Microsoft is all set to release their final devices, namely the Lumia 650 and the Lumia 650 XL phones. The 650 has been around the rumor mills for quite some time, but the 650 XL seems to be a new variant.
However, speculations indicate that the 650 XL is actually the Lumia 850 which has been renamed to bring in parity in the release and this shall be the final full stop to the disaster that the Lumia series was.
Ever since Microsoft took over, they have lost out several billion dollars (last year’s reports indicating a loss of over 7.8 Bn, and with nearly 8000 jobs axed).
This year it has been brought to light that the company witnessed a 50% fall in sales in 2015 when compared to 2014.
Microsoft Lumia 650 is expected to come out with a 5.5 inched screen, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The phone is expected to feature a Snapdragon 410 SoC processor, and is expected to come out with an 8MP camera in the front as well as in the back.
The 650 XL is expected to release with a minor few changes, as it will be featuring a 5.7 inched screen, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB of storage and a 13MP back camera with an 8MP front camera. The chipset details remain unknown but it is likely to be the Snapdragon 615.
The two phones will be the final releases in the Lumia series, from where Microsoft will now begin working on the Surface Phones, something that has been awaited for quite a long while. The release of the devices is due in the next month as per speculations.
