Leak: Samsung Galaxy S10 Will Feature In-Display Fingerprint Scanner

Even though Samsung’s latest Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are two of the best smartphones ever made, they actually failed fans expectations. While the two smartphones might be outstanding from a hardware performance point of view, we can’t say the same thing about their design. Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ don’t bring anything new to the table in terms of design and Samsung needs to work on this.

Galaxy Note 9 Bland and Familiar Design

To make things even worse, a recent leak showed us that the upcoming Galaxy Note 9 will also ship with a bland and familiar design. In fact, the leakster who unveiled this information said that he couldn’t see any differences when looking at Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9. Moreover, the leakster also said that Samsung is deliberately using the same old design because it doesn’t feel the need to upgrade anything.

Samsung is Deliberately Keeping the Design Boring

Samsung is believed to be keeping design technology away from its fans. The reason why Samsung is doing this is quite simple, the smartphones that Samsung puts out are bestsellers and there is no need for innovation.

On the other hand, Samsung is also keeping that technology hidden so that it can “shock” fans whenever it plans on launching a new device. Talking about launching new devices, a recent report from Chosun Economy is saying that Galaxy S10 will ship with a feature that fans are going to love!

In-Display Fingerprint Sensor

One of the features that Galaxy S9 was expected to be equipped with was the in-display fingerprint sensor. Samsung fans viewed this feature as a direct response to Apple’s cool FaceID which makes iPhone X so unique. Sadly, Samsung decided that installing the in-display fingerprint sensor on Galaxy S9 was not the right move and decided to keep this feature for 2019.

Galaxy S10

Even though Galaxy S10 might be far away from its official launch date, leaks about this smartphone keep pouring in. Although, no one should be surprised about this since Galaxy S10 is one of the most highly anticipated smartphones of 2019.

Nonetheless, the report from Chosun Economy is saying that Galaxy S10 will come with the innovative in-display fingerprint sensor. This is great news for Samsung fans since it means that they will finally get rid of the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The biggest issue regarding Galaxy S9’s rear-mounted fingerprint sensor is that it takes a while for people to get used to it and everyone hits the camera lenses instead. Luckily, Samsung is finally going to install it beneath the display.

Security Issue

The interesting thing about this innovative feature is that as previously mentioned, Samsung was expected to equip it on Galaxy S9 but decided against it because it proved to be a security issue. There is no other company that managed to create a hack-proof in-display fingerprint sensor and it looks like Samsung has been secretly working towards that.

Seeing how Apple fans are having lots of trouble with the FaceID unlocking system, we think it’s safe to assume that Galaxy S10 might give Samsung an edge in its competition against Apple.

Changing the Design

All that’s left for Samsung to do in order to be sure that Galaxy S10 makes fans happy is to work on the design. The new in-display sensor is going to give Samsung some additional back room to work with and this will allow the South Korean tech giant to make some unique design changes. The only thing that we can do right now is wait and see what further Galaxy S10 leaks have to unveil.
