In 2018 we can expect Apple to release a follow-up to its iPad 9.7in (2017), but it remains unclear which will be the specs of this device, or when it will be released. Nevertheless, there are plenty of speculations about Apple’s next tablet and many of them are based on logic and are very believable.
This iPad is supposed to be one of Apple’s more affordable devices, which means that you should not expect the latest technology. Last year the tablet came with 128 GB as the maximum amount of storage, and next year we might even expect 256 GB. It is very unlikely that we will get more since Pro versions are the one that offer 512 GB of storage.
When it comes to the camera, the current 1.2 MP front-facing camera is incredibly disappointing. While we do not expect a 7 MP one, like the ones on the Pro models and the latest iPhones, but a 5 MP camera could be a good update.
The 2017 model came with the A9 processor that had been out for a year and a half when the tablet was released. Therefore, the 2018 model might come with an A10 Fusion, or even A10X.
There are not many rumours about the possible design of the iPad 9.7inc, but users know what they would like to see. The 2017 version came with an unlaminated screen, and this was not something that people appreciated. Many users agreed that the unlaminated screen gave a cheap feeling to the device, especially since they already tested older Apple devices that had a laminated screen such as the iPad Air 2 that was released back in 2015. Therefore, a laminated screen would be an important thing for the design of the tablet.
