According to the latest reports, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will basically be multiplayer because it looks like it will lack the single-player campaign that was its key-element over the years. This was confirmed by two sources and one of them is a report that was published at Polygon.

Charlie Intel, top Call of Duty information broker said that the new game would have a Battle Royale mode.

Battle Royale mode has become a trend

This is the trend involving last-player-standing mode that has been taking control over more games for over a year now after the massive success flaunted by games such as Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite: Battle Royale among many more.

By now, there hasn’t been any big-budget studio that decided to add a Battle Royale mode to a massive franchise series, but sources have been saying that it’s only a matter of time before it reaches Call of Duty or Division, Destiny, or even Battlefield.

Activision, Call of Duty publisher, has been quiet regarding this issue saying that they are not commenting or rumors and speculation.

“Development oN the single-player campaign wouldn’t be completed.”

Black Ops 4 might lack traditional single-player campaign

Polygon says that the as development cycle of Black Ops 4 moved towards the game’s October release date it was more and more obvious “that development on the single-player campaign wouldn’t be completed.”

Activision also showed interest in rearranging the content that’s offered for Call of Duty games.

For instance, back in 2016, it provided a remaster of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare to owners of PlayStation alongside the release of CoD providing it as a standalone purchase later that year.

Call of Duty: WWII experienced a drop in the number of multiplayer maps that have been offered at the game’s release.

If we take into consideration the buss that Call of Duty games receive for their multiplayer, it’s no wonder that gamers are speculating about it and about the moment that Activision decides to drop campaigns from players.

Black Ops is set for launch on October 12 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
