We have some great news for both StarCraft II and artificial intelligence fans. Blizzard confirmed that it will get together with DeepMind on November 3rd and 4th and co-host the StarCraft II AI workshop at the Hilton Anaheim hotel. Worth mentioning is that the hotel is situated right next to the Anaheim Convention Center.

StarCraft II AI Workshop

This workshop provides AI researchers, bot programmers, industry professionals and academics with the opportunity to get together and put brainstorm artificial intelligence-related ideas. Blizzard and DeepMind are offering their StarCraft II Learning Environment and StarCraft II API tools to everyone who is going to attend this event.

Limited Space

On the downside though, the space for this event is limited. Therefore, Blizzard and DeepMind have created a special questionnaire that people who are interested in attending the event will have to fill up. This is a great way of selecting who receives access to this event.

Moreover, neither Blizzard nor DeepMind will provide people with travel and accommodation costs. Things get even worse since this is a BYOC (bring your own computer) event. The only things that Blizzard and DeepMind will provide are power outlets, stable Wi-Fi network and lunch catering.

Artificial Intelligence Questions

The hosts of this event have announced that they are more than happy to answer every artificial intelligence related questions. This means that the event will be interactive and people who manage to get access to it will have their questions answered.

Also, considering that everyone who is going to attend this event will be well-versed in AI technology, we can be sure that Blizzard and DeepMind’s hosts will be faced with some tough questions. Nonetheless, we think it’s safe to say that everyone is curious to see how Blizzard and DeepMind’s StarCraft II AI is going to perform. Will it be able to defeat every StarCraft II pro?
