iPhone SE 2 Leak – iPhone X Style Notch And More

Apple looks set to reveal a new iPhone SE 2 soon which will bring features from the top-end iPhone X to an affordable handset.

The Leak

Here you have the clip in question:

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDr1CJpTV20]

The video, leaked on the Japanese website Mac Otakara, shows off what is apparently the new iPhone SE 2 smartphone. It looks a lot like a perfect fusion between an iPhone X and an iPhone SE.

Previous rumors add up

There have also been some mockup sketches leaked, which appear to support this form factor. There was also reported a previous leak about Apple working on an iPhone SE 2.

Apple has previously been rumoured to release 3 new iPhones this year with a 5.8-inch iPhone X, a 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus and a more affordable 6.1-inch LCD display toting handset which could be this iPhone SE 2.

You will immediately notice the squarer shape of this phone than the current higher end iPhones, much like Apple’s older iPhone design style. But then there is that iPhone X style top-notch and bezel-free display – something which has been rumoured to appear on all of Apple’s iOS devices in the future.

Of course this must be taken with a pinch of salt. Notice that lock icon remaining on after the phone is unlocked? That suggests this could be an Android build made to look like an iPhone. Of course it could simply be a bug in what is a very early version of the iPhone SE 2.

Possible Launch?

In Feb 2018 the Taiwan Electronic Times (via the Chinese-language site MyDrivers) predicted an iPhone SE 2 launch in March, albeit with minimal design changes from the SE.

Another report, this time by the Taiwanese market research company TrendForce, believes a new iPhone SE 2 is coming in the first half of 2018.

Another possibility is that the iPhone SE2 could launch at Apple’s WWDC event in June. A report from a Chinese website at the end of February 2018 suggested that the iPhone SE2 will launch at WWDC.

SwiftKey Keyboard Update 7 – New Features, Stickers, GIFs Support And More

Brought to version 7.0, the Swiftkey keyboard got the most important update since it got acquired by Microsoft in April 2016.

What is Swiftkey?

SwiftKey is a keyboard app for Android and iPhone that “adapts to the way you type, so you spend less time correcting your typos and more time saying what you really mean. SwiftKey users have saved an estimated 10 trillion keystrokes across 100 different languages, which adds up to over 100,000 years of reclaimed typing time.”

“SwiftKey’s hallmark predictive technology learns from your personal writing style, getting smarter over time. From your quirkiest family nickname to the sports teams you support, SwiftKey predicts the individual phrases that matter most to you,” say the developers.

The app is available on Google Play and the App Store, so you can go install it right now!

The Swiftkey 7 keyboard is completely customizable, letting you pick from over 100 interface themes and from a key layout selection. For complete flexibility, the app also allows manual adjustment of the size of keys, thus compesating for the display’s size.

Lately, Swiftkey kind of lost users in favor of its competition, Google Gboard being the main beneficiary. In an attempt to put a stop to this decline, Microsoft is stepping up, thus managing to bring consistend improvements to the app in a very short time.

New Features

Though only available on Android for now, the new Swiftkey 7 update consolidates its additional options in a dedicated toolbar. Enabling it will open an extended menu, from which you can download stickers to insert in messaging apps; your favorites can also be saved in a personal collection.

On the list of features we can also add a new Calendar function, which allows you to save dates for future events and using them with ease in messaging apps.

The Clipboard function makes it so you can copy multiple messages, therefore keeping sentences safe for further use.

Of course, we would not have a messaging tool in 2018 without GIF support, making it easier to add animated images to your conversations with friends!

Do you use Swiftkey? What are your experiences with it? Tell us in the comments! And as always, stay tuned for more news and information!

Apple To Announce New Educational Products Towards The End Of The Month

We were expecting Apple to hold an event this spring, however we wouldn’t have thought it would happen on the very same day that Huawei, Xiaomi and other big smartphone developers announce their new brand-new devices.

New event

On March 27th, the popular American company is going to present to us their new education-oriented products, which suggests the possibility of us seeing both new hardware and software, which will help students in classrooms.

Possible announcement of new Apple devices

Because MacBook Air is one of the most popular laptops when it comes to “school” computers, we expect to see a cheaper version of it presented at said event. The event’s description says we are going to see new solutions for both teachers and students, therefore a more expensive laptop (with a retina display, for teaching classes) is not out of the question, either.

Additionally, this could be the event where we get new details on the new iPad tablets; recent rumors suggesting that a borderless iPad with Face ID authentication system will be introduced soon enough. There also exists the chance of launching a cheaper iPad, like last year’s model, but with support for the Apple Pencil stylus, a tool which could prove useful for educational applications.

Monetary motivation

In case you are wondering why most if not all producers are pushing to present new products by the end of March, we can presume their motives are purely financial. The end of March is, for most companies, the end of the fiscal year, too, and the growth of their end-of-the-year stocks can probably improve substantially their financial results for the last trimester.

What exactly is Apple going to announce on March 27th? Are you awaiting something specific? Tell us your thoughts in the comments! And as always, stay tuned for more Apple news!

Samsung Galaxy S10 to Feature iPhone X-Style 3D-Sensing Camera

The Samsung S9 and Note 9 won’t feature an iPhone X-style 3D-sensing camera, but it looks like the Galaxy S10 will!

The Samsung Galaxy S10 is going to come packing an iPhone X-style 3D-sensing camera for Face ID-type security and unlocking capabilities. That’s according to reports from Korean news outlet The Bell.

According to the report, an Israeli startup called Mantis Vision is currently working with camera module firm Namuga on 3D-sensing camera solutions for Samsung, with the technology intended to feature in the next generation of Galaxy S smartphones.

Special addition for a special event

This report would certainly seem to carry some weight, as Namuga is not only one of Samsung’s camera module suppliers, but it also directly supplies 3D-sensing modules for Intel’s RealSense AR cameras, too, while Mantis Vision specialises in 3D-mapping technologies.

Samsung following Apple’s lead on this would also make sense as next year will be the 10th anniversary of the Galaxy smartphone series, so incorporating the 3D-sensing camera in the S10 would help make the device extra special, just as with iPhone X.

Samsung is pushing the competition further

While the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus came with Intelligent Scan, a security feature that combined face and iris scanning, neither phone came with 3D-scanning capabilities and, judging by current reports, the tech won’t feature on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 9, either.

As such, it definitely looks like Samsung has its playbook for the next 12 months pretty sorted in terms of security features, with an in-screen fingerprint reader on the cards, and the Galaxy S10 introducing Samsung’s answer to Apple’s Face ID tech in March 2019.

What do you think? Are the rumors trustworthy? Are you excited for the next year’s Samsung Galaxy smartphone? Tell us in the comment section down below! And as always, stay tuned for more news on anything Samsung!

iOS 11.3 beta 5 – Released For Developers and Testers

One week after the release of iOS 11.3 beta 4, registered developers and Public testers can download iOS 11.3 beta 5 for the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

The only thing different from iOS 11.3 beta 4 seems to be minor improvements and bug fixes to the OS. Apple has posted the same release notes as the ones from the previous beta release; as a reminder here they are:

  • 4 new Animojis for the iPhone X;
  • ARKit 1.5 for augmented;
  • More in-depth information on battery life;
  • AirPlay 2;
  • iCloud messages;
  • More detailed information about updates and apps on the App Store;
  • More transparency about Apple’s use of your personal data (with a new Privacy icon and detailed explanation);
  • A Business Conversations feature for messages;
  • Medical Files;
  • Improvements to the video content in the Music app;
  • Housekit updates;
  • Compatibility for Advanced Mobile Location;
  • Many others!

Battery Features

Probably the biggest change in iOS 11.3 is the introduction of a bunch of options for enhancing battery life, which should cut down on the controversy about Apple throttling performance on older devices.

A new menu, “Battery Health” is added, which shows up under the “Battery” tab on iOS 11.3. There are two fields within this menu: Maximum Capacity and Peak Performance Capacity. Maximum Capacity, as the name implies, will show you how much maximum charge your phone can still hold out of the original amount, while Peak Performance Capacity will tell you whether the battery is throttling down your phone performance or not.

Therefore, you will be shown a reduced Maximum Capacity on older phones with old batteries inside. Also, if you have a weak battery plugged in, the Peak Performance Capability will tell you “This iPhone has experienced an unexpected shutdown because the battery was unable to deliver the necessary peak power. Performance management has been applied to help prevent this from happening again.” Of course, you have the option to disable this, should you wish to do so.

Animoji & AR

While more battery health transparency is great, there are other points of interest in this system update too. Namely, the next big thing brought by Apple: Animoji. While it’s true that we’ve seen new emoji in previous iOS updates, this update brings us 4 new animoji variants: a dragon, a skull, a lion and a bear. That would make 16 Animojis in total!

Also, as we’ve mentioned, iOS 11.3 beta also updates the proprietary augmented reality software, ARKit, to version 1.5. Now, the tool is able to work with vertical surfaces, rather than only with horizontal ones. It can recognize and place objects “in the world” and it can be aware of the positioning of objects like signs and posters. The developers say a possible use of this feature could be animating movie posters or maybe interactive museum exhibits. As a bonus, the camera can now auto-focus and has a ~50% greater resolution!

Download & Install

iOS 11.3 public beta 5 can be installed on iPhones (version 5s and newer), iPod Touch (6th Gen) and iPad (5, Air, Air 2 and all Pro models).

For anyone subscribed to the public beta channel, you can download the iOS 11.3 public beta 5 now! Go to Settings → General → Software Update and you will get a prompt to download & install. The update is 262MB in size.

Grand Theft Auto VI Latest Leaks On Vice City and Female MC

Like we’ve stated earlier, GTA 6 could be right around the corner or a few years away. All we know is it will happen someday. Our reasoning is, even though GTA 5 is making bank from microtransactions, Rockstar can not keep relying on this forever.

According to The Know’s report, we might have to wait three or four more years before “Project Americas” (the internal name for GTA 6) is released.

New Old Location & GTA Online

The Know reported that the new Grand Theft Auto game would be taking place in the well-known Vice City. Vice City is basically Rockstar’s image of South Florida that was previously the location of the eponymous game – GTA: Vice City.

We are aware this already sounds extremely fake, given that Vice City is one of the most beloved locations in the entire franchise. However, the rumor does not specify the timeframe the game will be set in, so even though it may be Vice City, maybe it won’t have the glorious 80’s songs that were present in the old game.

One important topic the report completely skips over is GTA Online. It’s a given that it will be an important part of GTA6, since it is Rockstar’s cash cow, though we have no idea how it is going to function with the new game.

Playable characters

Grand Theft Auto 5 was the first game where you could play 3 different characters – Michael, Franklin and Trevor – each with their own role in the main plot of the game.

The report does not say if GTA6 will follow in its predecessor’s footsteps, but what we do gather from it is that it will be the first game where you will be able to play as a female character in the single-player campaign.

Release Date

Apparently, GTA 6 is ‘3-4 years away’, which would mean it might launch in 2021 or so, as The Know claims. Remember, though, that Rockstar has a history of being late with their game releases. One good example is Red Dead Redemption, which has had its release date pushed twice, going from Fall 2018 to a Fall 2019 launch.

If the report holds true, then GTA 6 might get released in 2021, a long time away. Whether Rockstar is actually able to release it then is another story.

One thing worth noting is that new Sony and Microsoft consoles are expected to be released by 2021. One reason for GTA 5’s great success is the fact it released on the old PS3 and Xbox360, and later got ported to PC, PS4 and XboxOne. If Rockstar seeks the same means with GTA 6, 2021 might be a tad too late.

This is where the speculation we gathered from the report ends. What do you think? Are you awaiting GTA 6? Tell us in the comment section down below! And as always, stay tuned for more news and rumors on gaming and the GTA series!
