Receiving updates for Windows 10 used to be great news for everyone since these updates introduced new features and software tweaks. Unfortunately, things haven’t been going that well during this past couple of months because nearly Windows 10 update that Microsoft has pushed brought more bugs than new features. In fact, the latest “KB448096” update from Microsoft which is an emergency patch has ironically added more problems instead of fixing them.

Microsoft Rolls Out Emergency Patch

This patch was released in order to fix a major security flaw which Microsoft calls it “Windows DHCP Client Remote Code Execution Vulnerability”.

“A memory corruption vulnerability exists in the Windows DHCP client when an attacker sends specially crafted DHCP responses to a client. An attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerability could run arbitrary code on the client machine. To exploit the vulnerability, an attacker could send a specially crafted DCHP response to a client. The security update addresses the vulnerability by correcting how Windows DHCP clients handle certain DHCP responses,” said Microsoft.

New Windows 10 Bugs

Even though the patch solved the DHCP issue that we previously mentioned, it also brought new problems with it. Microsoft’s forum for Windows 10 has been flooded with complaints from users ever since the KB448096 emergency patch rolled out.

Some users are saying that their task manager doesn’t show the list of drivers anymore. Others are saying that the Edge browser can’t open the web UI admin page for their routers. Not just that, but some users are saying that the new emergency patch has somehow managed to break the “windows Hello!” feature and the finger scan option for laptops which feature a fingerprint scanner is no longer available.

These are some serious issues and Microsoft needs to figure out a way to fix them as soon as possible.
