A new function implemented in the WhatsApp Beta 2.18.97 version for Android is now permitting users to send notify their contacts about phone number changes. The new feature will be soon available on iOS and Windows Mobile phones, as well.
This new function comes as an addition to the already established feature called “Change Number” and which permits users to transfer the contacts, messages, and settings to another Whatsapp installed on a different phone number.
The new Change Number feature
As I’ve already said, this new Change Number feature is allowing Whatsapp users to send notifications to their contacts when they change their phone number.
Here is how to activate the new Change Number feature in WhatsApp Beta 2.18.97:
- Got WhatsApp Settings -> Account;
- Tap on the Change Number option;
- Now, tap on Next;
- Then, on the top-right corner, you can type in your new phone number and your old one and tap on Next;
- Then, you must enable Notify My Contacts option;
- Next, several options pop-up and you’ll have to choose one of them – All contacts, Contacts I have Chats With, and Custom;
That’s it, now, your contacts have been notified that you’ve changed your phone number.
Download and install the WhatsApp Beta 2.18.97 with the new Change Number feature
The Change Number feature comes as a side-update for Whatsapp and most probably you’ll get it automatically if you have the auto-update feature turned on on your device.
Besides, WhatsApp developers plan to introduce GIFs and other cool features soon.
Remember that, for the moment, the new Change Number feature is only available in the WhatsApp Beta 2.18.97 for Android but soon it will also be implemented in the WhatsApp versions for iOS and Windows Mobile.
