Watch Series 4 was unveiled two days ago and one of the device’s most important features is support for ECG. This feature has been developed for the sole purpose of helping older Apple fans to detect heart problems and according to Swiss watch experts, Watch Series 4 is looking to become Apple’s bestselling wearable device.
The fact that Watch Series 4 can take an accurate electrocardiogram means that this device is not targeted only towards tech fans anymore, but it’s also a great purchase for older people who want to keep a close eye on their health.
Targeting a New Market
“Far from just being an evolution, the new Apple Watch Series 4 is probably a revolution because it does not only target the wrists of geeks, but also of people over 45 who care about their health,” said Gregory Pons who is an industry expert.
The industry expert is making it clear that Apple’s new ECG feature is increasing the customer “audience” that Watch Series 4 has. Furthermore, Apple has priced the Watch Series 4 at $399 which is quite affordable when considering the features that it has to offer.
Beating the Swiss Market
We should also mention that Apple started rapidly gaining shares in the smartwatch market as soon as Watch Series 4 was unveiled. In fact, reports from CCS Insight are saying that Apple will be able to match the worldwide sales of Swiss-made watches. This is quite impressive and we have to give praise to Apple for not just being able to compete against Swiss-made watches, but for dominating the market.
“The Apple Watch continues to improve and provide additional relevant functions. I think this will represent a harder and harder challenge to entry-price Swiss-made watches, which are not in a position to stay relevant,” added Luca Solca who is an analyst at Exane BNP Paribas.
