Sony announced that more than 525 million PlayStation consoles have been sold during the past 24 years and that it wants to launch a special device to commemorate this event. Therefore, Sony will launch a special “500 Million Limited Edition PS4 Pro” that features a dark blue translucent color that can also be spotted on the DualShock 4 controller, vertical stand, mono headset and PlayStation Camera as well.

Sony Sells Over 500 Million PlayStations

The original PlayStation launched in 1995 in the US and it was never expected to become a bestseller. However, Sony’s PlayStation lineup was a huge success and sold over half a billion units in 24 years.

We should mention that the most successful PlayStation unit is PlayStation 4 which launched back in 2013 and sold more than 73.6 million units until 2017.

Limited Edition PS4 Pro

The 500 Million Limited Edition PlayStation 4 Pro will feature a 2TB hard drive and a pair of matching gold wireless headset that can be purchased as an accessory for extra $100. The dark blue translucent DualShock 4 controller is also selling individually for $65.

Also, worth mentioning is that Sony is going to manufacturer 50,000 units of dark blue translucent PS4 Pro so that it does live up to its “Limited Edition” name.

Launch Date and Price

Sony fans who want to make sure that their PlayStation collection is complete should make sure to set $500 aside because this is how much the Limited Edition PS4 Pro will cost. Moreover, the Limited Edition PS4 Pro will be available for purchase at retailers starting August 24th.

If you are planning to purchase one of these PS4 Pro units, then we advise you to not play any games on them because they will sell for a much heftier price in the years to come when no one will be able to find them in stores.
