Surveys are showing that Snapchat is slowly getting bigger than Facebook and Instagram. Snapchat offers a unique way of sharing content and this is what makes people want to give it a try. Another thing that makes people interested in Snapchat is the fact that the app’s developers are constantly releasing new updates which improve the social media platform’s user experience for the better.

Snapchat “Eagle” Feature

Since we are talking about Snapchat updates, we need to mention that the developers are currently working on a secret feature that is codenamed as “Eagle”. The product is said to be a visual product search that functions with Amazon.

Even though the app’s developers don’t want to unveil any information about the upcoming feature, “Eagle” has been spotted in the app’s Android code.

The code contained the following text line: “Press and hold to identify an object, song, barcode, and more! This works by sending data to Amazon, Shazam, and other partners”.

Visual Product Search

From the looks of it, Snapchat wants to give users a way of scanning a real-life object and then automatically redirecting them to Amazon so that they purchase. As we all know, thousands of social media models advertise clothes and all other types of products and this new feature is going to make their lives easier.

Competing Against Instagram

Even though Snapchat’s user base is continually growing, it still has a long way to go before it can surpass Instagram. Rumor has it that Snapchat’s developers want to get the upper hand in this competition by adding the “Eagle” feature, something Instagram lacks.

In addition, the Snapchat camera is going to function like a real-world navigation tool and this will make it more useful than Instagram.
