Blizzard is one of the world’s most influential game developers with huge titles such as World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Starcraft under its belt. However, Blizzard wanted to expand the range of games that it features and it created a fun FPS called Overwatch. The game developer took a considerable risk by jumping into a new genre, but it all paid off since Overwatch is a huge hit!

Special Mercy Skin

One of the things that make Blizzard special is the fact that the game developer loves to use the popularity of its games to shine the spotlight on more important matters such as the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Therefore, Blizzard created a unique Pink Mercy skin and made it available for $15. The price of the special Pink Mercy skin is quite high and the reason behind this is that Blizzard promised to donate all proceeds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Blizzard Donates $12.7 Million

The $15 skin has been available for a limited period of time and Blizzard managed to raise $12.7 million! Just like Blizzard promised, all the money raised through the Pink Mercy skin were donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

We should mention that this is six times the amount that the folks at Games Done Quick (charity foundation) managed to raise in a marathon.

Special T-shirts and Help from Streamer

Blizzard said that the skin raised $10 million and that the rest came from selling limited edition t-shirts. Moreover, Blizzard announced that popular Twitch streamers also helped raise $130,000 through donations.

Wrecking Ball

From the looks of it, Blizzard wants to thank players for purchasing the Pink Mercy skin and it added a new hero called “Wrecking Ball”. The new hero is super fun to play and we advise all Overwatch players to give him a try.
