Galaxy S10 will represent the next-generation of Samsung-made smartphones and the expectations are set pretty high. Everyone expects nothing but the best from Samsung and Galaxy S10 has high standards to meet. One of those standards is 5G super-fast mobile data connectivity. With news of US network carriers such as AT&T working on 5G mobile data plans, it should come as no surprise that every Samsung fan wants Galaxy S10 to get this feature. However, this might not happen.
5G Network Connectivity
For those unfamiliar with this term, 5G is the fastest cellular technology available right now and it offers faster speed and better coverage than all other networks. Not just that, but 5G is also expected to be up to 100 times faster than the speed that current cellular networks offer right now.
Will Galaxy S10 Support 5G?
As we all know, Samsung loves to equip its flagship smartphones with innovative features and 5G network support fits right into that category. Even though fans might be asking for this feature, there is a high chance that Samsung will not add 5G support to Galaxy S10.
The reason behind this is because 5G networks require smartphones to have up to five additional antennas which is going to make Galaxy S10 bigger and heavier.
Taking a Risk
Samsung needs to decide if installing 5G network support on Galaxy S10 is worth making the smartphone bigger and heavier. Although, we think that Samsung is not going to take this risk because its competitors (Apple and Google) are doing their best to create slimmer smartphones every year and Samsung might have some issues competing against them if Galaxy S10 doesn’t fit the same measurements.
On another note, Samsung’s CEO DJ Koh recently announced that the company is working on releasing a foldable smartphone. This is going to be a truly innovative device and Samsung could use it as “testing grounds” for 5G network.
