Instagram Stories Update Lets Users Add Soundtracks

Considering the fact that Facebook has lost most of its younger user base to Instagram, it should come as no surprise that the social media giant is focusing all its attention on improving the features that Instagram has to offer. Even though surveys might show that Facebook’s popularity is dwindling, Facebook doesn’t care about that as long as people are moving on to Instagram and not Snapchat.

Instagram Stories Update

Nonetheless, the reason why Instagram is making headlines today is that the developers have recently announced that users will be able to add soundtracks to their Stories. This is a nice feature since adding a cool song to an Instagram Story will make the difference between an interesting video and a great one.

Adding Music to Stories

The new update started rolling out OTA (over the air) to both iOS and Android user bases and it already arrived in six countries, the US being one of them. The reason why Instagram’s developers can implement this cool feature is because Facebook recently made deals with record labels which gives Instagram Facebook users the ability to use songs from famous musicians such as Dua Lipa, Guns N’s Roses and Bruno Mars for example.

Instagram vs Snapchat

The only real competition that Instagram actually has to think about is Snapchat. Facebook tried acquiring Snapchat, but the owners decided that they don’t want to sell. Therefore, Facebook is adding all these latest features to Instagram in hopes of defeating Snapchat.

Snapchat doesn’t benefit from the same deal that Facebook made with the record labels and this means that Instagram finally has an advantage. Not only will this new feature make Instagram Stories more interesting than usual, but it will also help Instagram get the upper hand over Snapchat.
