New images and details about the hardware of the HTC Nexus Sailfish have appeared on the Internet, confirming information published so far from unofficial sources. The images were posted on Chinese social network Weibo and describe a device made of metal and glass, not very different from the HTC Desire 10 or HTC 10 in size and shape.

Sailfish Nexus will be the smaller screen model between the two “Google” smartphones in 2016. The display will measure 5″ diagonal, according to recent information, it will display 1920 x 1080 pixels and provide high-end hardware. It is a Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4 GB RAM, 32 GB of storage and 12 along with 8 megapixels cameras. On the back will be the fingerprint sensor and the 2770 mAh battery that should provide enough autonomy for at least one day of use, taking into account the technical specifications.

On the back, the metal cover was filled with a glass panel, which should provide better signal for the main antenna, as well as GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth. At the bottom we deal with USB Type-C, already standard on the Nexus, and the top is reflected by a 3.5 mm audio jack.

The launch of HTC’s Nexus Sailfish is expected along with Marlin this fall, rumors suggesting a launch scheduled for late September.

  1. Seems like huge bezels, especially when it doesn’t even have front-facing stereo speakers.

  2. The bezels, seriously? They look even larger than the 5X ones, and no stereo speakers? It’s gonna be a terrible phone.

  3. I’d never let big bezels stop me from buying a phone, but I’ll definitely keep critiquing them. Especially when the bottom bezel is huge and doesn’t contain a second speaker.

  4. But really though, it’s a ton of space. I know it doesn’t mean much to you (or for many people really) but for those like me with smaller hands, it really makes a difference in reaching the top right of the screen especially if the bottom bezel is smaller. Unfortunately Android OEMs opt to copy the iPhone look when they could’ve really made devices with very minimal bezels a thing before Apple does.

Ex: Xperia ZL 5″ screen 131.6 x 69.3 x 9.8 mm with enough space for front facing speakers and reducing the side bezels to be more like the Note 7 is possible as well or in the ~67mm range. Also add 2.5 d glass and more curves for an even better ergonomic experience.

Comparatively Nexus 5 137.9 x 69.2 x 8.6 mm, and Sailfish looks to be even bigger than the N5

Same with the 5X compared to the G2. 147 x 72.6 x 7.9 mm vs 138.5 x 70.9 x 8.9 mm. There is more than enough space to add fron facing speakers on the G2.
