Now that Google finally decided to announce Android 8.0 Oreo, the question which remains is what smartphones are eligible to get it? Luckily, almost every major smartphone manufacturer already confirmed which one of their devices will get Google’s latest operating system during the upcoming future. Without any further ado, here are the smartphones which are eligible to download Google’s newest operating system:
Google’s Own Smartphones
Obviously, Pixel and Nexus devices are among the first ones to receive the update since they are being directly managed by Google. Pixel and Pixel XL will get the update alongside the Pixel C tablet. On the other hand, not every Nexus device is eligible to receive Oreo since only Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Nexus Player are going to get it.
Samsung is the biggest smartphone manufacturer in the world and no one should be surprised to find out that its flagship devices get priority when it comes to operating system updates. Therefore, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 will get Android 8.0 Oreo as soon as a final version comes out. Furthermore, Galaxy S7, Galaxy Note 7 and Galaxy Tab S3 will also receive the update but at a later date.
HTC recently confirmed that it’s working on optimizing Android 8.0 Oreo so that it runs smoothly with its hardware specs. On the downside though, HTC U11 will be the only smartphone to receive it. However, things might change in the future and other HTC smartphones might receive Oreo along the way.
This South Korean tech based smartphone manufacturer has been quite adamant about not wasting anytime when it comes to software updates. In fact, LG announced that V30 and G6 will receive Android 8.0 Oreo on Twitter even before Google confirmed that Android 8.0 Oreo is ready to come out.
