After a waiting period of about 3 weeks, Fortnite: Battle Royale is finally available for iOS for everyone, without the need for an invite!
The famous first-person shooter, rivaling PUBG mobile but with more cartoony graphics is free and uses about 2GB of storage on your device.
A short review
I signed up a few weeks ago for the invite based test and unfortunately I did not receive an invitation. I did, however, play the free game on the PlayStation 4 and I wasn’t very impressed.
You die a lot faster than in PUBG, but you have the big advantage that you have some sort of building system (think Minecraft). You can build stairs, walls, buildings and other structures, but you can also destroy them and rethink.
The weapons are a bit on the Science Fiction side, the sniper rifle is more precise and the game does not take itself as seriously as it should, thus being more fun and with incredibly customizable characters.
Available on iOS devices now!
If you would like to play Fornite: Battle Royale on iOS, you need an iPhone SE at the very oldest, or an iPhone 6S, iPhone 7, iPhone 8, iPhone X.
On the list there are also the iPad Mini 4, iPad Air 2, iPad 2017 and iPad Pro. This game will arrive on Android devices soon, however we do not have a release date for that yet.
Fortnite: Battle Royale
If you are unfamiliar with Fortnite, you should know that the game is based on the “Battle Royale” mode, where 100 players are thrown around on a huge map and have to fight for their lives until only one player remains victorious.
The graphics might remind one of Respawnables, Team Fortress or Blitz Brigade, with a hint of Pixar. From what I understand, everything happens very quickly on the mobile version, and you have no time to build anything. You kind of stumble over the building interface, too, given the controls.
The good news is there is cross play, so iPhone gamers can play with and against PS4 and Xbox players, too. If you want to download the game for your iOS device, you can find it by clicking here.
