Fortnite Fans Angry at Sony for Not Allowing PS4 Cross-Play

Fortnite fans are lashing out at Sony for placing cross-play restrictions on PS4. It all started when Fortnite fans who began playing the game on a PS4 console found out that they will not be able to use the same account on Nintendo Switch. The reason why this is so upsetting to Fornite fans is because it means that they won’t be able to use the skins they earned while playing on PS4 if they ever decided to pick up a Nintendo Switch.

The worst thing about this is that Microsoft is not placing any restrictions on Fortnite fans. In fact, Fortnite fans can use the same account on Xbox One and Switch without any issues. Considering that Xbox owners get so much freedom, it should come as no surprise that PS4 owners want the same.

Nintendo Switch Portability

A special edition of Fortnite was recently launched on Nintendo Switch and everyone is excited about it. Nintendo Switch is a hybrid gaming console which offers portability and this allows Fortnite fans to enjoy the game even when they are not at home. Nonetheless, let’s see what Sony has to say in response to the criticism it has been receiving.

Sony Speaks Out

“We’re always open to hearing what the PlayStation community is interested in to enhance their gaming experience. With more than 80 million monthly active users on PlayStation Network, we’ve built a huge community of gamers who can play together on Fortnite and all online titles” said Sony.

“We also offer Fortnite cross-play support with PC, MAC, iOS, and Android devices, expanding the opportunity for Fortnite fans on PS4 to play with even more gamers on other platforms. We have nothing further to add beyond this at this point” added Sony while talking to BBC.

From the looks of it, PS4 fans who also own a Nintendo Switch console will never be able to play on the same account because Sony doesn’t want to add this cross-play option.
