We think it’s safe to say that there is no other game developer that cares as much for its fans as Blizzard does. The game developer recently announced that it’s working on a remastered edition of the original StarCraft which means that the game will receive a major graphical update. Blizzard has also announced that the game will be available for purchase during this summer. Things get even better, Blizzard also claimed that the original StarCraft and Brood War expansion will become free once the new 1.18 patch arrives.
StarCraft and Brood War are Free for Download
As previously mentioned, Blizzard claimed that once patch 1.18 arrives, StarCraft and Brood War expansion will be free for download. It looks like Blizzard has kept true to its word since patch 1.18 started rolling out on Tuesday (18th April) and the game has been made free. Therefore, we advise StarCraft fans to head to Blizzard’s official website and download the game right now. Even though it might feature the best graphics, it will still be a blast from the past.
The patch has been especially developed to improve the StarCraft user experience. Blizzard fans should be happy to know that patch 1.18 includes a wide array of tweaks, back-end code, performance enhancements and even a couple of features. For example, StarCraft can now be played in a windowed mode without borders. Additionally, the most important thing that this patch does is that it makes StarCraft compatible with Windows 10.
Custom Hotkey Feature
One of the biggest changes that patch 1.18 was supposedly going to bring was the addition of custom hotkeys. However, this feature is nowhere to be found. This leads us to believe that Blizzard wants to include it only in the remastered edition.
The game developer is renowned throughout the world for always listening to what its fan community has to say. This is why World of Warcraft still manages to hold the title as being the MMO with the largest subscriber base. What’s surprising is that even though Blizzard is hard at work on Overwatch and World of Warcraft, it still manages to pay attention to older games such as StarCraft.
