Call of Duty and Battlefield are the most highly anticipated shooter games of the year. Even though the two franchises are in a close competition, Battlefield has been having the upper hand during the past year because it decided to take players into WW1 while Call of Duty focused on the future. Luckily, the folks at Treyarch (development studio) are in charge of developing this year’s Call of Duty and they announced Black Ops 4.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
For those who don’t know, three game studios develop the Call of Duty games. Each studio gets to create a new title in a rotation system and the people at Treyarch are known for being the best. In fact, the Black Ops series is the most beloved by FPS fans and therefore, it should come as no surprise that the expectations are set really high for the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
With that being said, the folks at Treyarch are expected to breathe life into the Call of Duty franchise and today we are going to cover everything there is to know about Black Ops 4. This will give fans an idea of what type of gameplay mechanics, new features, and game modes they will get to experience when the new game comes out.
There Is No Story Mode
We are going to kick it off with the bad news, there will not be a story mode to Black Ops 4. This is the first Black Ops title not to feature a roleplaying story campaign and fans are upset, but on the bright side, this is the only bad thing about Black Ops 4.
Rumor has it that the developers were working on a story mode for Black Ops 4, but they were forced to scrap the project in favor of a Battle Royale mode which we are going to cover right now.
Blackout Mode (Battle Royale)
Fortnite and PUBG are the most popular FPS games in 2018 and therefore, it should come as no surprise that Treyarch wants to capitalize on the latest Battle Royale trend by launching a similar game mode. The game mode is called Blackout and it will feature a huge map that measures in at 144 square miles wide. The cool thing about this map is that it will feature iconic Black Ops locations which can be explored by air, sea, and air.
Treyarch already launched a teaser for Blackout where it unveiled that players will jump into the map via parachute and that they will need to gather loot that is spread out around the map, similar to PUBG and Fortnite.
The mode gets really interesting because it will allow players to create their own parties with friends. To make things even better, the game mode will feature awesome Call of Duty characters such as Raul Menendez, Alex Manson, and more others.
Players will be able to choose from a bunch of specialist classes that come with their own unique abilities. This feature makes it possible for players to diversify their gameplay and keep coming back for more in order to become the best at their class.
As an example, the crash specialist is designed for medics. However, this class doesn’t only heal injured friends since it can also give buffs. Talking about healing, we need to mention that Black Ops 4 will not feature regenerative health and that players are required to either go to a medic or pick up health packs from the ground which have a long animation time.
