Owning a Pixel smartphone brings lots of advantages such as receiving all of Google’s latest OS updates ahead of everyone else. However, this isn’t always a good thing since those updates can sometimes include bugs that will cause your smartphone to malfunction. This is exactly what is happening with the latest Android 9.0 Pie OS that somehow managed to disable Pixel XL’s fast-charging mode.
Android 9.0 Pie Disables Fast-Charging
Reports from the Android community forum are showing that Pixel XL is not able to fast-charge ever since the new Android 9.0 Pie OS arrived. To make things even worse, Android fans sent hundreds of reports that highlight this issue, but Google will not fix it anytime soon.
The new bug has been added on the official Google Issue Tracker and the Android parent has labeled it as “Won’t Fix (infeasible)”.
Is Google Leaving Pixel XL Behind?
As we all know, Google is currently adding the finishing touches to a new lineup of Pixel smartphones. Therefore, some Pixel XL owners feel like Google is deliberately not fixing this bug in order to give them additional reasons to buy the upcoming Pixel 3 XL.
While this theory might be plausible, we think that it’s far away from the truth. Google is known for putting a high price on the user experience that it’s devices offer and the Android parent is probably busy optimizing the new operating system to work on different smartphones.
OTA Bug Fix
Therefore, Pixel 3 XL owners are surely going to receive an OTA (over the air) bug fix during the upcoming weeks. Let’s just hope that Google doesn’t take its time and rushes because not being able to access fast-charging because of a bug is going to cause Pixel XL owners to downgrade their OS back to Android 8.0 Oreo.
